PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Widia, also known as tungsten carbide or hard metal, is a material consisting of hard tungsten carbide particles embedded in a metallic matrix (often cobalt).

It is produced through the sintering process, ie fine powders of the components are mixed, pressed and then heated by maintaining a high pressure so that the granules of the powders join to form a single piece. This means that hard metals are not real metals, but carbides (80-95%) bonded with a metal.

Thanks to its high abrasion resistance, hard metal is widely used as an insertion tool, allowing a better production economy with a higher production volume by reducing the cost per piece of product

An example we find in the shoe industry in the webbing mills for the production of heels and soles, in textile machines and in the button industry.
